The five-day working week is a thing of the past, the expert believes

Business processes in Russia are gradually being transformed. Today, it doesn't matter how many hours a week an employee "sits out" in the workplace, his ability to organize his schedule and forecasting skills come to the fore, says political strategist, communications expert Alyona August.

Earlier it became known that Sovcombank launched an experiment to introduce a four-day working week for employees in a new coworking in Turkey.

In a comment for the editorial board of "Made in Russia", August stressed that the topic of the length of the working week is more related to competently structured business processes and time management.

"The question is very simple: work from morning to evening or work so that there is a result. The story of the removal should greatly change the self-perception of employers. She showed that there are people who sit perfectly in the office, obsequiously look the boss in the eye, but do not bring results," the expert said.

The pandemic dictated new formats and forms of work. "The reason is not to mechanically cut off one working day, but that we now live in a reality where time and place (of work) do not matter. The person himself matters. If he is effective, can set a task for himself and others, look to the future, build on past experience, knows how to build relationships, then he can sit in Bali, if he gets there, and work from there," August believes.

In her opinion, employees with project thinking are increasingly valued today. "The removal showed some managers what human performance is. It's project time now. It seems to me that there will be more project people who can be calculated - now everything in the world can be calculated. If there is efficiency, it does not matter how many days his working week lasts," the expert noted.

An effective specialist manages his own time, sets priorities, sets deadlines, can predict the situation, she is sure. "A project person thinks about different options. Let's say if we take the last two weeks of January of this year. Many companies planned offline events. But it was clear that everything was going to the point that no one would go offline because of the difficult epidemiological situation. It was possible to work out the format of the online event in parallel. Someone thought about it, and someone bites his elbows," the expert concluded.
