The suspension of Russian fertilizer exports as recommended by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade will hit the profits of producers, but this measure is now forced and necessary. After the situation stabilizes, supplies will resume, but they may be redirected to other markets, said Alexander Tainov, general director of the scientific and production association AgroKhimProm.
On March 4, the agency recommended the domestic producers to suspend the supply of fertilizers abroad until the situation stabilizes.
According to the representative of AgroKhimProm, such measure cannot but affect the profits of suppliers, especially those whose export activities accounted for a large percentage of total sales or were conducted with the countries that are actually cut off from Russia at the moment.
"In the current environment, such a measure, in our opinion, is necessary. Due to the withdrawal of large foreign producers of plant protection products and agrochemicals from the Russian market, a shortage of these products will logically arise on the Russian market," Tainov said in a conversation with Made in Russia's editorial board.
Against the backdrop of growing isolation, it is important for domestic agrarians to get everything they need for successful field work and eventually be able to provide the country with the necessary food supplies, the expert believes.
"Therefore, some limitation of exports is a forced, but expedient measure. In the future, when the situation stabilizes, export activity should promptly return to its usual course, changing, perhaps, the geographic vector of its focus," added the representative of the company.
Now, according to his data, not only the demand for domestic drugs for crop production is increasing, but also the importance of drugs that help farmers save money. We are talking, for example, about growth regulators, elicitors, preparations to improve the quality of tank mixes or super wetting agents.
"Therefore, for our part, we will do everything possible to provide the necessary reserve of our products SCS.technology and "Upgrade" for the domestic market. Similarly, we will build up work this season on the sales of traditional pesticides. We hope that in this way we will help Russian agriculture to survive in difficult conditions for the country," - he said.
According to Mr. Tainov, the recommendation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade hardly affected the company as AgroKhimProm exports growth regulators, fungicides, special preparations for tank mixtures, and other products, not fertilizers themselves.
