Russia will strengthen control over the safe use of pesticides and agrochemicals, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said.
"According to the FAO and the Russian Union of Plant Protection Chemicals, about 30% of chemicals are illegally imported, adulterated or out of date. Therefore, the emergence of the system for the entire agriculture is of great importance. FGIS "Saturn" (Federal State Information System) will provide traceability of pesticides and agrochemicals at all stages of circulation and will be an effective tool to combat counterfeit", - said Abramchenko.
The system will allow to collect necessary information on use of pesticides and fertilizers, which will favorably affect both domestic market and export opportunities of Russia. The information system will contain data on pesticides and agrochemicals, as well as on operations related to their circulation
Abramchenko also added that in test mode on the platform there will be created possibilities for registration of production and transportation certificates, which will form a chain of electronic documents.
Rosselkhoznadzor has been appointed as operator of the new system. It has already started testing the system and registering supervised objects where pesticides and agrochemicals are handled. Their number has already exceeded 200 thousand.
