"The Center of Competence for Cutting Tools will appear in Russia

The Center of Cutting Tool Competences will start operating in Russia on the basis of Rusnano's portfolio company Virial, according to Mikhail Nenyukov, deputy chairman of the board and chief operating officer of Rusnano.

"Now it is necessary to take the vacated space and create real production in Russia. This moment cannot be missed. The market volume of imported products in our country is 1 billion dollars. There is a lot to fight for," he said.

The competence center will be created in three stages. At the beginning there will be increased production of carbide columns which are blanks for cutters, drills, taps, reamers, replaceable multifaceted carbide inserts for various types of cutters and body tools produced by Virial.

At the second stage production of axial carbide tools with nanostructured wear-resistant coating will be established. It is supposed to enable production of 250 thousand pieces of finished tools per year.

The final stage is devoted to the formation of production of cutting tools and tooling (collets, collet chucks, tool holders, thermal cartridges, etc.).
