An interactive atlas about the small peoples of the country will include the possibility of creating digital maps

The "Interactive Atlas of Indigenous Peoples: Languages and Cultures" will feature a service that will allow you to create digital maps without programming skills. This was told by the Vice–rector for Scientific Work of the RSUH (Russian State University for the Humanities - approx. editors) Olga Pavlenko.

"In 2023, a service will be put into operation that will make it possible to create digital maps without programming within the framework of an interactive atlas, which will significantly facilitate and reduce the cost of the whole process. We want this atlas to have access to all educational and public platforms that are connected with the Northerners, with indigenous peoples, so that they do not exist separately, in fragments, but that a common platform of data information is created, so that there are transitions between them," Pavlenko said at a strategic session on the preservation of languages and cultures.

She also noted that next year the atlas is planned to be translated into English. It contains information about the Nenets, Evenks, Sami and other peoples. While the atlas tells about culture, language, problems, traditions, outstanding representatives of 10 nations, information about 20 nations and their languages will appear before the end of the year, another 10 - in 2023.
