Turkey has set an absolute record for the export of goods to Russia
Turkish machine-building exports to Russia have been increasing in recent years, this year it will break a record, Chairman of the Board of the Union of Manufacturers of Machine-building products of Turkey Selim Emre Genjer said at the Made in Russia forum.
The Turkish engineering industry, the official noted, is beginning to feel the effects of the slowdown in the development of the European economy, which is the country's main partner. At the same time, he added, the Turkish engineering sector represents Russia's trade potential well, but does not fully use it.
"With this in mind, starting in 2020, we are making efforts to overcome the shortcomings. We are implementing a program to strengthen our ties with Russia," the Turkish official said.
"Our machine-building exports to Russia increased by 37% last year — $940 million in volume. The first eight months of this year are also a serious increase in our exports — by 28%. This indicates that by the end of this year we will achieve a record — $ 1.2 billion will be the volume of machine—building exports to Russia," the chairman of the Board of the Turkish Union added.
