Anti-Russian sanctions have not dealt a crushing blow to the export activities of the country's regions. The enterprises managed to restructure their work and pay attention to other markets. Governor Vladislav Shapsha told about how it happened in the Kaluga region in an exclusive interview with the editorial board of "Made in Russia".

How has the current situation with anti-Russian sanctions affected the Kaluga Region? Our exports have even grown.

In general, the situation with the involvement of foreign enterprises - and we have more than 100 of them, of course, the restrictions that were introduced could not but affect. The possibilities of supplies from Europe, the possibilities of selling goods to Europe, of course, they have changed compared to what we had last year. But, all the companies, with the exception of three automakers, they all continued their work. They have increased production volumes. With our help, they have found new opportunities for organizing logistics. I can't say that it happened painlessly. Somewhere the time has increased, somewhere I had to look for replacement components. But all this has been done and today everyone is working. I'm not going to say the names on purpose. For obvious reasons. But you can open the economic map of the Kaluga region and see those enterprises. Everyone except automakers.

Which industries in your region are most involved in export activities?Today we talked about the fact that there are a lot of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Kaluga region that work for export.

One of the heads of these enterprises, Liston, for example, spoke today at a panel session together with the Prime Minister. They have developed and sell for export, mainly for export, medical equipment. Here is one of the successful examples. We export medical services. Today, more than 350 foreigners have come to the "Medical Radiological Research Center" in order to receive treatment for oncology. This is twice as much as last year. And a few years ago it was zero.

Today we can say that our scientists, our scientific school, our production capabilities allow us to provide these medical services at a level not lower than is customary in other countries, in the West, let's say. Today we are ahead, and from there they are also coming to us for treatment.

How does the REC (Russian Export Center – approx. editorial offices)? We work very closely with the REC and, by and large, use a wide range of the opportunities that they provide.

Today they said that there are tools that require processing in the current situation, some can be abandoned. But look, we had help subsidizing participation in exhibitions or business missions, today we are simply going not to the West, but to the East. We go, we work, and we work successfully. We find partners there, we find partners in order to replace those components that we cannot get from the West, and we find those partners who need our products that we produce.
