The first SEZ with investments of 92.8 billion rubles will be created in Kuzbass

The first special economic zone (SEZ) of the Kuzbass industrial type will appear in the north of the Kemerovo region within the borders of two municipalities. The corresponding decision was made by the interdepartmental group on the creation of SEZs and territories of advanced development (TOP). The investment portfolio of the first residents will amount to about 92.8 billion rubles.

This is stated in the press service of the government of the region. The total area of the SEZ will be 628.8 hectares. It will be located within the boundaries of the Kemerovo and Topkinsky districts. The volume of investments of potential residents will amount to about 92.8 billion rubles, and the implementation of the project will create at least 1.2 thousand new jobs.

The first investment projects will be implemented in the fields of chemical and food industry, agriculture, medicine. The initiative to create a SEZ in Kuzbass was put forward by the governor of the region Sergey Tsivilev. At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2021, he proposed to focus the special economic zone on projects in non-coal sectors of the economy.
