The Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU NETI) has developed a small-sized voltage stabilizer, the university's press service said.
The device was created to save electric appliances from power surges, as well as to save the house from fires due to short circuits.
"Directly aimed at the residents of cottage settlements, who have unstable voltage levels in the network, that is, those who are outside the city. They are the ones who need a device that has a stable voltage level when connected: household appliances will not burn down, gas boilers will not fail, vital electrical appliances - at least, and at most, of course, the houses themselves will not burn down, "- said Alexei Udovichenko, deputy head of the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering NSTU NESTI.
He noted that the stabilizers are produced on domestic base and have a small number of transistors, compact size and affordable price.
The university believes that the development can also replace imported analogs at industrial facilities.
