Engineers of Spetskabel research and production enterprise in Moscow invented ultra-thin and ultra-light optical cable of wide application, said the head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of the city Vladislav Ovchinsky.
"The development opens new opportunities for cosmonautics, aircraft building and robotics, where along with optical characteristics the limitations on weight and dimensions of the products are very important," - he said.
According to Ovchinsky, samples of the new development are being tested now. The serial production is planned for 2023. The enterprise will be able to produce around 100 kilometers of such cables annually.
The official also noted that today in Moscow there are 11 plants of cable industry. During the first three months of 2022 the volume of shipped goods of their own production amounted to 8.4 billion rubles, which is 27% more than the same period last year.
