Russian Post will help exporters to develop markets in Asia and the East, said Igor Yashin, head of export development at Russian Post.
According to him, after the "perfect storm" due to new sanctions restrictions, the situation with overseas shipments has stabilized.
"We passed the 'perfect storm'. Logistics for the last two weeks is stable, some growth has begun. We had such training in 2020 in connection with covid, when all the logistics were restructured, so now we are on these rails very effectively and promptly resolved almost all the issues. If we talk about shipments to the States and Canada, we simply switched to transit destinations, and in Europe we were able to switch to ground delivery, because we had experience in 2020 and all the contracts were "live. In Southeast Asia and the Middle East, everything worked and still works," he said.
Now exporters, according to the expert, should focus on finding new venues for their goods. "There have been a lot of new inputs and changes, we need to respond to them. As a recommendation, I can note that we need to go to new sites and marketplaces in the East. There is a much more loyal customer audience there now, there is a novelty of Russian goods," he said, adding that Russian Post is ready to support companies in logistics.
In a conversation with Made in Russia, he noted that the organization considers providing logistics as its priority. "When it is fine-tuned, we can move towards its optimization," Yashin stressed.
He explained that Russian Post works with the state under a program to subsidize export tariffs. "There is a program, it has been sharpened for marketplaces. The scheme is as follows: any exporter places the goods on the Russian marketplace, the latter sells them abroad, the exporter gets a discount on tariffs. Now there is a negotiation process to have other platforms instead of marketplaces. In this direction is going, it is a subsidy with the state to develop exports, "- shared Yashin.
At the same time, he noted that exporters must also take into account the objective reality. "Exchange rate hikes, changes and complications in logistics, the airlines are experiencing political pressure and raise fares, you get this pressure on prices. We are interested in containing the fares, we have no goal to raise fares and take advantage of the current situation," said Yashin.
In addition, the state company is ready to support exporters in other areas.
"We have managers who will advise and support exporters and tell them about possible subtleties and details of shipments by postal services. We are moving with the REC toward national stores. There is already a project in Germany called Amazon.de (a national store for Russian goods, based on the German branch of Amazon), and it is functioning. Its business model is that the client provides the goods, and we do all the sales. This is the direction we are also going to go in the East. Negotiations are underway to include us in these procedures, because we have sales force (sales agents - ed.) we can attract customers," he concluded.
