The Russian economy currently lacks about one million IT specialists, the industry "continues to experience staff starvation," said First Vice Speaker of the Federation Council Andrei Turchak.
"The fight between the countries for IT-sphere specialists intensifies, we must honestly admit that with the start of a special military operation some of our IT specialists, including young people, went abroad. At the same time it is worth noting that the reverse process has already been registered," he said at a meeting of the Council on the development of digital economy under the Council of the Federation.
The industry, he said, "continues to face staff shortage". The number of IT specialists at the end of last year was 1.7 million people, Turchak cited data.
"Experts say that our economy needs at least one million more people," he continued.
