Trade between Russia and Japan in fiscal year 2021, which ended March 31, 2022, increased by 56.9%, 20.8 billion dollars.
According to the Japanese Ministry of Finance, exports to Russia increased by 37.4% and imports by 68.5%. Structurally, trade turnover between the two countries remains the same - the main export items from Japan to Russia are cars, machinery and electronics. Energy and raw materials, including metals and timber, account for the bulk of imports from Russia.
In particular, export of Japanese cars to Russia grew by 21.6% and energy imports from Russia - by 49.9%.
