The St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Sera will supply Venezuela with 5 million doses of flu vaccine Flu-M, the press service of the medical institution told Made in Russia.
Thus, the first flight carrying 2.5 million doses of the drug arrived in the South American country on April 15. Another batch will be delivered on April 28. In total Venezuela will receive 5 million doses of domestic vaccine.
The drug was delivered to the capital Caracas by a special flight from Nicaragua, where the Russian-Caraguayan immunobiological enterprise "Mechnikov Institute" is located - the final stages of vaccine production took place at its site.
Stanislav Uyba, director general of the Mechnikov Institute in Nicaragua, said Venezuela has received the flu vaccine for the third year in a row as part of agreements between the presidents of the two countries. "In the current epidemic season, we will supply this country with 5 million doses. The vaccine was produced from a substance supplied to us by the St. Petersburg Institute of Vaccines and Sera of FMBA of Russia," he specified.
