Moscow's non-resource exports to the UAE increased sevenfold over the year

Moscow's non-energy exports to the UAE increased sevenfold last year, to 34.5 billion rubles. The Russian capital has thus become a leader among Russian regions in terms of supplies to this country, the press service of the complex of economic policy and property and land relations of the Moscow government said.

"Moscow's non-resource exports to the UAE last year showed a seven-fold increase compared to 2020. One of the most sought-after categories were medicine and pharmaceuticals. Together they provided about 15 billion rubles of total exports to this country," - said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina, adding that Moscow companies supplied vaccines and diagnostic reagents to the UAE.

The Moscow Export Center (MEC) is helping the city enterprises to enter the foreign markets. Last year the IETC organized several business missions with partners from the UAE. They were attended by Moscow companies, which are engaged in the field of information technology, medicine, electronics, machinery and equipment. Within the frames of Expo 2020 in Dubai 15 high-tech companies held talks with foreign partners.

Today Moscow accounts for 26% of Russia's total non-energy exports, said the deputy mayor of Moscow Vladimir Yefimov. He called the UAE a promising area for doing business, also because the industry is actively developing there.

"Moscow companies have managed to respond to the demand and occupy their niche in this market. For example, in two years the volume of industrial exports has increased by almost 10.5 times," he noted.

Last autumn the IETC presented at the stand Made in Moscow in the UAE the products and services of Moscow companies at two major core exhibitions, Gitex for IT-companies and The Big 5 for the construction industry. This allowed entrepreneurs to start supplying high-tech solutions and confectionary equipment to this country.
