In Moscow, on February 3, the Museum of Russian Impressionism will open the exhibition "Avant-Garde. On a cart in the XXI century", which will exhibit the works of Kandinsky that have been lost for 100 years.
The exposition is a reconstruction of the Third Traveling Art Exhibition of 1921. Then more than 300 works from Vyatka, Moscow, Petrograd and Kazan were brought to the city of Sovetsk in the Vyatka province (Kirov region).
"A month later, the masterpieces were sent on carts to the neighboring city of Yaransk, where, due to problems with financing and the beginning of the autumn thaw, they were left in the local museum and forgotten for almost 100 years," the Museum of Russian Impressionism noted.
The exhibition will be open until May 22.
The Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (Peredvizhniki) is an association of Russian artists that arose in the last third of the 20th century and existed until 1923. By organizing traveling exhibitions, the wanderers conducted active educational activities and ensured the sale of their works.
