Aeromax, an innovation center for development of unmanned projects, has tested a new way to inspect objects under water. It will enable the company to release a domestic development for underwater photogrammetry in the near future, the organization's press service told the Made in Russia project.
"The experiments took place on the unique lake Tserik Kel, the constant water temperature of which keeps about plus 9 degrees throughout the year, in several stages with diving to three depths - with a mark of two, sixty and eighty meters. Duration of dives was from forty minutes to 1.5 hours at a temperature of plus ten degrees "- said the company.
During the experiment, experts have determined the level of density and temperature of the light flux required to improve the quality of underwater photography, selected the optimal location of lighting devices and identified the dependence of the lens focus on environmental changes.
The experiment allowed obtaining digital models of objects with high level of detail under natural light at a shallow depth and under artificial light at a depth of 80 meters.
"Aeromax has developed a unique method that excludes humans from the underwater surveying process, provides a high level of detail in the digital model and increases the speed of data acquisition.
According to Maxim Chizhov, CEO of the company, the work done will allow Aeromax to bring a domestic solution for underwater photogrammetry to the market in the near future.
"The solution will make it possible to apply photogrammetry when surveying underwater infrastructure and build accurate 3D models. Such works are in demand for the inspection of the underwater part of pipelines and drilling platforms, inspection and modeling of underwater parts of hydro-technical facilities, and others," he said.
