Logos, Russia's leading manufacturer of computer simulators for military, automotive and special equipment, has started supplying simulators for a new environmentally friendly type of urban transport - electric buses - since 2020. The simulator was created by order of the Moscow government.
"The simulators are actively used to retrain drivers for effective management of the new municipal transport," the company explained.
At the same time, Logos PF has developed simulators for subway drivers and dispatchers, as well as for driving urban municipal transport - buses, trolleybuses and trams, by order of the Moscow government. Realistic simulation of a unique megalopolis, complex road network and urban traffic using various methods of artificial intelligence, detailed three-dimensional large-format visualisation - the main features of simulators of this type.
Development of electric transport in Moscow
In November 2019, the Moscow government abolished the transport tax on electric vehicles in order to stimulate the development of eco-transport in the capital. In addition, the authorities have increased subsidies for carsharing and taxis for the purchase-leasing of electric vehicles.
At the same time, Moscow public transport also becomes environmentally friendly: the carsharing operators were the first in the country to buy electric cars for their users; besides, one can already meet 210 electric buses, several hundreds of private electric cars, thousands of electric bicycles and scooters on the Moscow roads.
According to the analytical agency "Autostat", at the end of 2019, a total of 353 electric cars were sold in Russia, which is 148% more than in 2018 (144 eco-cars). The leaders in sales were the electric crossover Jaguar I-Pace and the Japanese Nissan Leaf hatchback - they accounted for 75% of the Russian market of new electric cars. In third place was the American Tesla: the Tesla Model X (46), Model 3 (22) and Model S (13). Also in demand were Renault Twizy (5), Peugeot Ion (3) and Hyundai Ioniq (2).
In total, there are about 100 charging points for electric vehicles in Moscow and 161 stations in Russia.
At the moment, Moscow is the leader in demand for electric cars (115 units sold in 2019), the second and third places in demand were shared by Primorsky Krai and Moscow Region (25 units in each region), then St. Petersburg (18 units), Krasnodar Krai (16 units), Irkutsk Region (13 units). In the Perm and Krasnoyarsk regions, Novosibirsk and Sverdlovsk regions, ten electric cars were sold each in 2019.
According to a 2019 study by PricewaterhouseCoopers consulting company, sales of electric cars in Russia could grow to 30% by 2025, with up to 60% in Moscow. If the sales growth rate is maintained at 30%, the number of electric cars on Russian roads will increase to 14.9 thousand. According to the company, such results will be achieved if the cost of batteries is reduced and they are adapted to the Russian climate, as well as the development of appropriate infrastructure.
Also earlier it was mentioned in mass media that developers of NP GLONASS were going to create a mobile application for electric car users by 2023. It is planned that the new service will show on the map the location of electric charging stations and calculate the approximate charging time for eco-cars.
