System House "Business Partners" launched 75 sets of infrastructure for TV signals within the framework of "Regionalization of VGTRK" project

System integrator Business Partners System House installed and launched 75 sets of terrestrial TV signal reception within the framework of the VGTRK Regionalization project. The jubilee system was installed in February 2020 in Kazan at the local GTRK.

For two years engineers of the "Business Partners System House" have been installing and setting up the complexes of terrestrial signal reception and regionalization within the framework of the VGTRK holding. During this time the company together with the customer has made a huge step from the project on paper to the full and complex implementation into the current infrastructure of the TV channel's regional branches. At present 43 regions of VGTRK have already got fully functional receiving complexes.

Specialists of System House Business Partners together with the VGTRK representatives worked out a detailed scheme of signal delivery and regionalization, both based on Emerlink equipment, and using auxiliary devices from the third manufacturers. The system center were two encoding centers in Moscow, working on 1+1 redundancy principle. The signal from VGTRK federal programs is encoded and multiplexed, then redundancy is created in it using Emerlink ADS. The generated stream is sent to regional receiving centers. There it is deployed and decoded by receiving equipment. The project uses dedicated VPN channels, ADS equipment ensures signal delivery without artefacts and losses. Regional versions of programs and advertisements are then inserted into the received signal.

"The Emerlink ADS system is an integral part of the linear delivery complex of VGTRK federal programs to the regional branches via terrestrial communication channels. Its capabilities allow to provide smooth transmission of broadcast quality signals over channels with non-guaranteed reliability conditions. The system is adaptive and has an automatic mode of restoration parameters adjustment to the current state of the network. The algorithms applied in its work do not lead to perceptible delays of a stream and to increase of additional service information volume. Presently Emerlink ADS is the most effective and cost-efficient hardware and software solution for transport stream interference suppression on the Russian market," said Sergey Efimov, director of regional production and technical directorate.

About EmerLink ADS

Over the years of operating systems from different manufacturers, the company has gained unique experience and decided to create its own line of equipment for the transmission of video and data over unified communication channels under the Emerlink trademark. Over six years of active development, a software and hardware development department with dozens of qualified engineers was set up.

EmerLink ADS was designed to send signals over non-guaranteed public and VPN communication channels with low requirements for the amount of loss and delay on the channel. The system saves on the use of guaranteed channels by delivering a signal even with 60% packet loss.

EmerLink ADS allows delivering signals encoded by any codecs and integrated into MPEG-TS, unicast/multicast and SPTS/MPTS streams. Using embedded algorithms of adaptation, buffering and redundancy addition, the system allows delivering the signal to the desired location with high reliability and low latency.

Emerlink ADS encapsulates and sends the transport stream together with the error correction code to the receiving device located at the destination point. The receiving device, in its turn, decapsulates the stream in real time, recovers the lost or damaged packets and re-requests to retransmit the packets that cannot be recovered. An interesting feature is the synchronous cross-port multiport packet transmission architecture, which adds additional reliability to flow delivery.

At the same time Emerlink ADS is capable of delivering up to 50 streams simultaneously, which minimizes the cost of purchasing and maintaining hardware platforms. The system possesses an automatic mode of adjustment to current network conditions, and also can work in Bonding and Failover modes. In Bonding mode system can unite up to six different communication channels that allows to divide a stream on several asymmetric channels. In this case, this can be both terrestrial and satellite channels. In Failover mode Emerlink ADS is capable of maintaining uninterrupted flow, even during permanent discontinuities on the channel.

EmerLink ADS system has won the Vladimir Zvorykin award in the category "For achievements in the field of telecommunications technology".

In addition, EmerLink ADS equipment successfully passed a difficult test to deliver federal versions of VGTRK TV and radio channels to regional branches for their subsequent distribution in local digital terrestrial and cable TV broadcasting networks.
