Broadband microwave manufacturer Microwave Systems intends to launch six new proprietary designs in 2020

Microwave Systems, a leading Russian designer and manufacturer of wideband high-power and low-noise microwave amplifiers, intends to start selling its own monolithic microwave integrated circuits and transistors this year.

The new products include six products developed in 2019:

• MS010620 ultra-wideband 1-6 GHz microwave amplifier with 25 - 40 W output power, 54 dB linear gain and single +27 V power supply. Features digital gain control, detector, thermal compensation, and fast power modulation.
• MS061810 6-18GHz UHF ultra-wideband amplifier with 10-15W output power at 42dB gain and single +27V power supply. Features digital gain control, detector, thermal compensation, fast power modulation.
• SVT8697H-50 matched GaN transistor in the 8.6-9.7 GHz band with a pulsed output power of 50 W at 40% drain efficiency and 7 dB gain.
• M1603B matched GaN dual stage GIS amplifier of 8.6-9.7 GHz band with pulsed output power of 12 W at 30% efficiency and 14 dB gain in a SMD package.
• MS3058 monolithic GaAs ultra-wideband low-noise traveling wave amplifier in crystal form, 2-18 GHz bandwidth, 14-16 dB gain, 3.5-5 dB noise figure, positive slope of AFC (analog of FMA3058).
• MC120 monolithic GaAs balanced ultra-wideband medium power amplifier in chip form, 5-18 GHz bandwidth, 9 dB gain, 1.3 W output power.

Microwave Systems JSC is a leading Russian developer and manufacturer of high-power and low-noise wideband microwave amplifiers (0.3-22 GHz), receiving and transmitting modules, specialized modules and units of microwave range, designed according to customer specifications.

Microwave Systems JSC was founded on December 16, 2004, by a small group of specialists directly related to Russian microelectronics. At the time of establishment the company had less than 10 employees, including the management. From the very beginning the company established itself as a manufacturer of reliable and powerful microwave amplifiers, and 15 years later it has grown and considerably expanded the list of high-tech products. Nowadays, the company employs 81 highly qualified specialists, including 20 developers and designers of in-house design center. Over the 15 years, the company's specialists have developed 120 types of products, and the client base has exceeded 185 companies.

Products

In 2019, the company expanded the functional range of products: it developed and mastered the production of a number of monolithic microwave integrated circuits and microwave transistors. All microwave integrated circuits and microwave transistors are already used in the production of their own modules. Presently Microwave Systems has started promotion of these products and plans to develop their sales both in Russia and abroad.

Most modules are designed based on GaN HEMT and GaAs pHEMT technologies. Experts of the enterprise constantly monitor the achievements both of fundamental science and element base manufacturers, apply and conduct tests of new interesting solutions in the field of microwave electronics, consult potential customers on required parameters of products.

Production

For series manufacturing the company built a modern production hall with clean rooms. The workshop is equipped with antistatic floors and furniture, a powerful ventilation and air conditioning system. The total area of the plant is 1500 m2, the area of "clean zone" is 200 m2 (purity class - ISO-7).
The shop has modern technological and testing equipment. As the testing equipment we use automatic benches of complex adjustment based on the modern measuring devices developed by the engineers of the plant. Design capacity of the existing workshop is up to 4 thousand complex power amplifiers per year. At the moment new production facilities are put into operation, which will allow increasing the production twice within the next two years.

In this connection, the enterprise plans to find new foreign customers and strives to increase the volume of export orders in its portfolio steadily. Going forward, the company's management believes that exports should account for at least 50% of the company's shipments in the coming years and plans to become a well-known and recognizable company in the international market for custom microwave modules and microwave microchips for reliable applications.

"Microwave Systems has recently started to offer its products and development services directly to overseas buyers. The company has a sales representative in Europe (TriLight Microwave). The company is interested in attracting new customers and distributors to promote its standard products and obtain new orders for custom product development.
