One Media participated for the first time in the 31st Sunny Side of The Doc International Film Market in an online format in 2020.

Russian film distributor Odin Media participated for the first time in the 31st International Film Market Sunny Side of The Doc (La Rochelle, France), which due to the epidemiological situation in the world was held in the online format from 22 to 25 June 2020.

The Film Market provided ample technical opportunities for international broadcasters, SVOD platforms and distributors to not only present their new documentary projects, but also to interact with each other in virtual reality via conference calls, pitching and online conferences.

As part of the event, Odin-Media presented several documentary projects of different genres: these are finished documentaries ("Kiselev's List. Never Again", "The Great Northern Way", "The Great Development of Siberia. Nomads in Time", "Urartu. The Forgotten Kingdom"), and two projects - films in production (the documentary "Invisible Hope", exploring the theme of plastic trash and the search for ways to get rid of the ubiquitous plastic, and a multiseries docudrama "Kremlin: The Age of the Tsars", which using large-scale historical reconstruction and modern computer graphics will allow the viewer to learn all the details of life in the Moscow Kremlin over its nearly 500-year history). Each of the finished films is a unique project in terms of spectacle and content, combining drama, historical authenticity and depth of director's investigation.

About the films

A novelty of the year 2020, which forces to once again rethink the terrible events of the Second World War, is the documentary film "Never Again" (Russia, 2020, directed by G. Galimullina): a docudrama about the Soviet partisan Nikolai Kiselev, who in 1942 saved 218 Jewish children and elderly people, leading them through the territory occupied by the Nazis and the front line.

The film "The Great Northern Way." (Russia, 2019, directed by L. Kruglov) is not just a travel film about the harsh Russian Arctic, which leads viewers along the routes of the famous pioneer of the XVII century Semyon Dezhnev and tells about the amazing beauty of indigenous peoples and the most picturesque and inaccessible places of the harsh North. "The Great Northern Way" is also a film-accomplishment in search of answers to questions about the great events of four hundred years ago that forever changed the course of world history

Another film is "The Great Exploration of Siberia. Nomads in Time" (Russia, 2019, directed by D. Khrenova), which combines cultural and archaeological research, unique visual material coupled with computer graphics. The film shows how more than 300 years ago the Cossacks accomplished the impossible, conquering the mysterious and dangerous lands of Siberia.

One of the projects presented at the film market is a historical docudrama "Urartu. The Forgotten Kingdom" (Armenia, Russia, 2019, directed by V. Vardanyan) - captivates the audience with the scope of reconstructed events, involving a wide range of scientists and experts. The film tells about the most mysterious and attractive of the ancient world states - Urartu, whose discovery for the first time in the XIX century became a worldwide sensation because of the rich cultural heritage of this ancient state on earth.

New projects

The Company is also working on projects scheduled for completion in 2021-2022. These are two documentaries for which Odin-Media is looking for co-production partners: "Verevkin Cave" (Russia, directed by V. Yurenkov) and "Kremlin: The Age of the Tsars" (Russia).

Each project is large in its own way. "The cave Verevkina" is a unique film-expedition about how an international team of extreme cave divers set a new world record by descending into the deepest cave on the planet Verevkina in Abkhazia. Despite the dangers, the team is planning another descent into the cave, having previously collected orders and requests from scientists from different countries to return to them with samples of unique stalagmites and unknown biological species. Dangerous shooting, impossible to write a script for which the participants can only rely on their willpower and each other's support, incredible footage shot with unique camera equipment on the ground, in the sky and underwater - these are the components of a successful and interesting media content, which attracts documentary film lovers.

The second project, which is to be developed, is a serial documentary film "The Kremlin: the era of the tsars" that will tell the history of the Moscow Kremlin through the prism of life stories of Russian rulers: from the founder of Moscow, Prince Yuri Dolgoruky to the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Large-scale historical reconstructions and modern computer graphics will allow the viewer to be fully absorbed in the various historical epochs and learn all the details of life in the Moscow Kremlin.
