The campaign "Give your Christmas tree a second life" starts in the Moscow region on January 15. It will be possible to hand over your old Christmas tree for recycling. This was told in the press service of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of the Moscow region.
"For the fifth year in a row, residents of the Moscow region will give a second life to Christmas trees. From January 15 to February 15, 2023, a large-scale campaign "Give your Christmas tree a second life" will be held in the Moscow region," the message says.
The collected trees are sent for recycling. They are processed into chips, after which one part is used as compost and soil production – they are used when planting new fir trees as part of the regional actions "Plant your tree" and "Victory Forest". The other part goes to the production of plywood, which is used to make elements for new playgrounds. Also, crushed wood chips are used for biofilters with bacteria during the degassing of closed landfills in the Moscow region.
