Russia will place a GLONASS station in Venezuela in 2023

Roscosmos plans to build and commission a GLONASS measuring station in Venezuela next year, the state corporation said.

"Construction and commissioning - during 2023," she said in a message on the telegram channel.

The contract with the Bolivarian Space Agency was signed earlier this week during a meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the Russian Federation and Venezuela. "The station will improve the coordinate-time and accuracy characteristics of the GLONASS system both in the Western Hemisphere and on a global scale," Roscosmos said.

It is noted that Venezuelan consumers will receive GLONASS on a gratuitous and permanent basis for the needs of land, sea and air transport, precision agriculture, monitoring the state of industrial and infrastructure facilities, conducting scientific research. Earlier it was reported that Roscosmos is negotiating the deployment of GLONASS stations on the territory of Argentina. In addition, stations in South America can be located in Brazil, Venezuela and Paraguay.
