In Egypt, Rosatom poured concrete into the foundation of the future power unit No. 2 of the El-Dabaa NPP

At the construction site of the El-Dabaa NPP in Egypt, the general contractor of which is the Rosatom State Corporation, a ceremony of pouring the "first concrete" into the foundation of the future power unit No. 2 was held.

"Construction on the second power unit has entered the main stage," the Atomic Energy portal reports.

It is known that the ceremony was attended by the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt Mohammed Shaker, Chairman of the Egyptian Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA) Amged El-Wakil, CEO of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.

The representative of the Russian state corporation noted that the interstate cooperation project is gaining momentum.

"We continue to work actively abroad: we are building 34 power units in 11 countries. But the project in Egypt is of particular importance to us, because El-Dabaa will be the first nuclear power plant on the African continent built using Russian technology," Likhachev added.

He stressed that the Egyptian project is the largest between the two countries since the construction of the Aswan Dam.
