Marie Axel Prokhorova was born in the town of Dilijan (Armenia). She started working in the modeling business at the age of 16. 3 years later she won the prestigious regional stage of the Elite Model Look Armenia competition in 2004, which afforded her the right to represent the country in the final Elite Model Look International 2004 in Shanghai.

Creating her own brand of clothing was the natural continuation and implementation of the experience she obtained in the modeling business.

The first MARI AXEL collection, consisting of cocktail and evening dresses, was presented 24 October 2011 at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia in Moscow. Axel garnered high ratings and attention from both experts and representatives of the fashion community.

Concurrent to her model and design career, Axel got her education majoring in Journalism and Leading Television Programs. She has also participated in a number of television projects on major television channels.
