Rostechnadzor may restore control over elevators in March 2023

The draft amendments to the initiative of Rostechnadzor on the resumption of control over elevators have been approved by the government commission on legislative activity. The changes may come into force as early as March next year. Izvestia writes about this, referring to the words of a member of the commission, the head of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Vladimir Gruzdev.

So, according to the publication, the measure on departmental control of dangerous technical objects in buildings also includes disabled platforms and escalators. On September 21, the State Duma adopted the bill in the first reading.

Rostechnadzor was in charge of checking dangerous technical devices in buildings until July last year. At the same time, as the newspaper notes, there are no legal grounds for this in the updated law on state control.

"Today there is a legal gap in this area. As a result, such control has not been carried out for more than a year, which naturally creates risks of harm to the life and health of citizens," Gruzdev explained to the publication.
