Organized groups of foreign tourists have almost stopped entering Russia

Foreign tourists have almost stopped coming to Russia in an organized manner since the beginning of this year. According to RIA Novosti with reference to the data of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, from January to September, 147.4 thousand foreign tourists entered the country.

It is noted that this is the official data of the Federal Security Service. This is half as much as even in the tough coronavirus period of 2021, and 35 times less than in the third quarter of 2019.

Basically, tour operators recorded single trips to Russia on business, there were practically no organized groups. Most often, guests came from the Philippines, India, China, Vietnam, Qatar, Germany and CIS countries.

In total, 4.3 million foreigners entered Russia in the third quarter, while in the same period last year the figure was 3.8 million. The Association explains the increase in the activity of citizens of Central Asia, that is, the countries of the post-Soviet space, from where they travel to the Russian Federation on business, and not for the purpose of tourism.
